Jørn Lier Horst (born 27 February 1970, Bamble, Telemark), is a Norwegian author of crime fiction and a police officer, working in Larvik. He is considered as one of Norway's leading crime writers. Intricate, elaborate and almost insoluble mysteries have become his specialty. Horst's career as a police chief makes him able to fulfill the most important element for the crime novel: Credibility. His novels are characterized by political and social comments in the subtext. He made his debut in 2004 with the crime novel Key Witness, based on a true murder story. The detective character in his novels is William Wisting.
